TEMPLE ARTS FESTIVAL RETURNS :: SATURDAY & SUNDAY, APRIL 20-21, 2013

Why have an annual arts show?

:: To bring to Nashville some of the best artists in their mediums not typically shown in local galleries. Their work ranges from very affordable ($100) to investment grade ($8,000 or more).

:: To showcase some of the finest regional or local artists with national or regional reputations (such as Sylvia Hyman and Rusty Wolfe who have shown with us in recent years or John Guider and Myles Maille who are new to the show this year).

:: To reward the best of the best with prize money, this year to be named the Sylvia Hyman Prizes in honor of her long time commitment to our show. The Judge this year for these prizes will be Jochen Wierich, Curator of Art for the Cheekwood Museum of Art. The judge may choose an artist who has never shown before or one whose work is collected by heads of state, celebrities, and prominent museums.

:: To foster both collaborations between artists and introductions of artists to local and regional gallery owners.

We take pride in the ongoing references artists give to their friends about our Southern hospitality and our professionalism. And we love the fact that they want to be included year after year even if some of them say this is the only show they attend outside of their ongoing gallery representation.

NEW THIS YEAR: Sunday is always free and open to the public. Food Trucks will visit at lunch, and there will be a Children’s Art Activity Area.
