MIGNON FAGET
For over 35 years, Mignon Faget’s jeweley designs have been hand-crafted in sterling silver and 14 carat gold in her New Orleans studio. Having been steeped in the culture and traditions of her birthplace, she has an unquestionable enthusiasm for the city in which she lives.
From the beginning of her career, Faget has worked closely with natural forms, never simply duplicating but always extracting the substance, the essence of a particular shape…refining it to perfection. From her earliest Sea collection to her latest OPUS, Mignon Faget’s creations continue to be collected throughout the U.S.
MEDIUMS: Jewelry: Gold, Silver, Precious and Semi-Precious Stones
STYLE:
From the beginning of her career, Faget has worked closely with natural forms, never simply duplicating but always extracting the substance, the essence of a particular shape refining it to perfection.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
As children we all saw wonderful shapes and patterns in nature. But once we learned the names of things, the shapes became obscured. In that sense, the process of unlearning is as important to me as learning. When I reduce nature’s forms to the least common denominator, I discover endless design possibilities. As a designer, I see what I have seen all my life, the sensual beauty of my environment…the architecture made to evoke dreams of the past.
PRICE RANGE OF EXHIBIT ART: $40 to $5,000
