ARTIST’S STATEMENT:

From the time I was a child, I have always found joy in the beauty brought to me by sight. Colors excite me. Nature nurtures me. I enjoy the immediacy of pastel and the lushness of oil and take delight in the opportunity to interpret the beauty I see.

The play of light and how it affects perception of color intrigues me. Plein air (outdoor) painting is a passion of mine. Nothing is ever fixed or static because the light is always changing. Responding moment by moment to what I see in nature is meditative for me. A completed painting is a small reminder of the awe experienced doing what I love.
